Living-in.eu has invited me to discuss with city officials the development of digital twins and their potential for governance.  It was a fruitful conversation with high level speakers from the Commission, Slovenian presidency and EU Mayors where I had the chance to expose  how Digital twins help them in their green transition.

I witnessed a lot of interest from participants but also a lot of confusion upon the technology itself.  Digital twins are part of a complex ecosystem for governance which can be hard to  apprehend.  Even if they showed curiosity, many participants did not think their structure was ready to host such a technology.

We must find levers, both financial and technical, that will allow a democratisation of digital twins and smart city initiative with the aim to reach sustainable development goals.
